Elmo supports 'Reunited Pet Cabin Project
The sum of €500 was presented to Nicole Borg on behalf of JCI Malta and Survivors Malta, who are entrusted with this project.
The Reunited Pet Cabin project was initiated by Jacob Cachia (“Titanium Man”) and his mother Sarah Cachia. In 2013, Jacob suffered a rare brain infection which required several surgeries, followed by a long recovery in the ITU. During this traumatic time, Jacob repeatedly asked to see Peanut, his dog. Once the doctors granted permission, a very emotional happy reunion was held between Jacob and Peanut in the entrance of Mater Dei Hospital. Post Jacob’s discharge from MDH, Jacob and Sarah obtained permission for the creation of a reserved space at the hospital where recovering patients could reunite with their four legged friends, which they describe as “A ray of sunshine on a rainy day”. This project is now nearing completion.
